Get Informed

  • The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a respiratory virus that was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China. The virus has spread rapidly worldwide since it was first identified in December 2019.
  • Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19.
  • The virus most commonly spreads through human contact and respiratory droplets, meaning that an individual can become infected if they come in contact with any form of respiratory fluids from a contagious person.
  • It is possible for an individual to contract the virus if they touch an infected surface and then proceed to touch their own mouth, nose, or eyes.
  • Symptoms generally appear within the first fourteen days after exposure; however, it is possible for individuals to be carriers of the virus and not show symptoms.

Take Precautionary Measures

Wash Your Hands Thoroughly and Often

  • When washing your hands, make sure you are cleaning them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • It is crucial that you wash your hands after blowing your nose, sneezing, or coughing.
  • Make sure to wash your hands if you have been in a public place, or if you’ve come in contact with another individual or an item someone else has touched.

Don’t Touch Your Face

  • Without first washing your hands, touching your eyes, lips, and nose after touching potentially infected surfaces is one way you might get sick.
  • Be aware of when you touch your face and how many times you do it. Once you become cautious of this habit it’s easier to break.

Avoid Close Contact

  • COVID-19 can spread between people who are within six feet of each other.
  • During times like these, it is important to practice social distancing and avoiding public places where you might get sick or spread the illness to someone who is at a higher risk of falling ill.

Keep Others Safe

Clean, Clean, Clean

  • Creating a routine disinfecting schedule will ensure that items are safe and clean.
  • Frequently touched surfaces that need to be cleaned and disinfected include doorknobs, light switches, countertops, phones, keyboards, handles, faucets, and toilets.

Cover Your Mouth When You Cough and Sneeze

  • Even if you’re not sick, it’s always important to think of others and cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze.
  • When you cough or sneeze, try using tissues or your elbow instead of your hand.

Stay Home if You’re Feeling Sick

  • Unless you are seeking medical care, stay home if you are feeling ill.
